The New Way of Business Networking
I found this photo on someone else's blog and i felt it best described the new way people are networking for business opportunities. Just like everything else in our society today, people are using computers and the Internet. (sometimes I wonder where we would be without them, or what would happen if computers were to be destroyed some how, think about it)
As you can see, the people are connecting to each other through their computers; and that has been a very common theme in today's world. Is this a bad thing? I would say yes and no because on one hand it is allow for individuals and businesses to be very efficient. But on the other hand, I feel you lose that friendly feel you get with a face-to-face or phone conversation. That's why I don't like talking on AIM a lot because I like talking to people in person or on the phone so I can hear the tone in their voice, which allows me to get a true read on their feelings. Sure people send the occasional smiley face or sad face but thats all fluff to me.
But like I said, this is definitely the new way of business networking, and with all these networking sites available, there doesn't seem to be any stopping it.

the networking on computer i agree has been a real issue in losing the personal interaction with people. But it has allowed us to reach out to more people and faster. We should learn how to use both.
I agree with what Steve said about how people are losing the personal interaction. I know it is easier for people to send an e mail to reach someone or to hold a meeting of several people over the phone, but it is very important to not loose the personal interaction with people. Seeing peoples face and body expressions while they are saying something is very important to perceive and understand what the person is really talking about.
I'm not sure... when it comes to business I feel like its equally as important how you communicate in person and online. There is so much communicated online.. sometimes you create friends or acquaintances only via email..Sometimes their your best ones too.
Meeting and reading people is over.
The first impression, red tye, and strong handshake have been lost.
Although the internet has changed the hiring process some, businesses don't hire people without meeting them first. The internet can help you get that first interview, but if you can't communicate well face to face you won't get the job. I think the handshake is just important as ever, its just easier to get there.
